Did you know that you can contact me with paint recommendations to match your wallpaper? I always try my best to help my customers choose paint colours and while I cannot buy all the paint swatches available worldwide, I thought I'd look into the most popular brands, one of them being Farrow & Ball.
There are over 130 paint colours that F&B offer, so this list cannot possibly be 100% conclusive, but the aim of this blog post is rather to guide you about mixing and pairing paint and wallpaper.
It's important to note that you don't have to use the same colour as you find in a wallpaper. If you use the wallpaper above panelling, it's better to choose a shade darker colour than what the wallpaper colour offers. Also, bear in mind that a totally different colour may give your wallpaper a more exciting look.
Having said that, I understand when people want to continue the colour scheme in the room, or want a furniture to match the paper, so I picked a couple of colours that were 'suspiciously' similar to the colours I use, and this blog post focuses on likely pairs.
By the way, to my shock, most of the F&B paint swatches I picked turned out to be a 95-100% match! Why is it a shock, you may ask? Well, because I don't make my wallpapers by hex colours, neither do I investigate popular colours. Instead, I pick the colours totally by sliding my Apple pencil on my Ipad and find the shade and colour that feels right for me.
My Dad used to run a printing house and was famously known for his excellent sight for colour, maybe I inherited this skill?
Anyways, here are the matches to help you, in case you need help with choosing paint for your wallpapers!
1.F&B 'ACID DROP
This modern lime green colour matches my wallpapers 'Don't be Crabby with Me' in lime green and pink and also my design 'Paradiso' in lime green. It's a 99% match!
2. F&B 'LOBSTER'
This beautiful vibrant blue paint is a very close match to two of my wallpapers, 'Don't be Crabby with Me' in turquoise and green and 'Singing Birdie' in lake blue. In both cases, the paint is slightly darker than the blue colour in the two designs, which is absolutely perfect if you use it on the bottom of the wall, like on a panelling. (Panelling on the bottom part of the wall should always be 1-2 shades darker than the wallpaper above).

3. F&B COOK'S BLUE
This is a paler, calmer blue colour, and although not a 100% match to two of my wallpapers, still, this shade will pair beautifully with 'Tulip Gingham' in blue and 'Don't be Crabby' in orange and blue.

4. F&B DRAWING ROOM BLUE
One of the darkest blues, perfectly matches my wallpaper 'Paradiso' in dark blue.

5. F&B CHARLOTTE'S LOCKS
This is a warm, rather dark orange colour, and it pairs perfectly with my wallpaper 'Tumbling Tomatoes' in pink or lilac, with the small orange tomatoes being the same shade. I will note here that I did not find a perfect match of orange for my other wallpapers, but again, if you want a darker tone for the bottom of the wall, or you want to paint a furniture to match my other orange wallpapers, like 'Wiggle with Me' in orange and pink or 'Don't be Crabby' in orange and blue, then this paint will work well with these papers, too.
6. F&B ROMESCO
This is a rich deep red and will pair beautifully with my wallpaper 'Bowtiful' in red, 'Tumbling Tomatoes' in pink, 'On the Same Wavelength' in pink cherry, 'Wiggle with Me' in pink and red.

7. F&B PEA FLOWER TEA
This stunning blue shade is a 100% match to the blue leaves of my wallpaper 'Blossom Trail' in pink and my wallpaper 'Trellis Charm' in blue.
8. F&B BLUE GROUND
This is a clean mid blue, and although not a 100% match, but looks surprisingly beautiful with my wallpaper design 'Wiggle with Me' in blue and green.
9. F&B NANCY'S BLUSHES
Nancy's Blushes is a mid pink that is located on the colour chart between the pinks I normally use. It's 2-3 shades darker than 'Lily of the Valley' in pink, and 1 shade darker than the pink background in my design 'Citrus Bloom', but again, if used on the wall under the wallpaper, these will make a beautiful pair because they are on the same pink scale.
10. F&B BABOUCHE
This cheerful yellow pairs absolutely beautifully with all three of my 'Citrus Bloom' wallpapers (pink, green or blue).

11. F&B PINK CUP
This is a mid tone pink colour that's more like a plaster colour, and it's 2-3 shades darker than my 'Singing Birdie' wallpaper in plaster, but will look beautiful together when applied under the wallpaper.
12. F&B SUGARED ALMOND
F&B calls this colour a refreshing pale lilac, and I couldn't agree more. This shade sits between the shades I use for my wallpaper 'Daisy Dreams' in pastel lavender and they would make a nice pair.
13. F&B SHALLOT
F&B calls this colour "a cheerful pink that takes its name from the allium family". I think this shade sits closer to the purple family, and makes a stunning pairing with my wallpaper "Tulip Gingham" in purple. The colours are not a match yet complement each other beautifully.
14. F&B SAP GREEN
This is a green with olive shade, and pairs very well with 'Tulip Gingham' in green.
Don't forget, that you can always match the colour in the wallpaper in bigger paint shops, and they will also match F&B paints by name.
I couldn't list all my wallpaper designs here, I might update with more colours at a later stage, but if there's any of my wallpapers you're particularly interested in to match to a paint, don't hesitate to contact me, I'm always here to help!
I'd love to see if you used any of these pairs together, please send me a photo or tag me on my Instagram page @reka_thornton !
